In this randomized crossover study of nine active men, compression tights (CT) and compression shorts (CS) were compared with control shorts during countermovement jumps using 3-D motion-capture and force-plate data. SPM-ANOVA showed that, relative to control, CS reduced hip flexion angle by 25–36 % in propulsion and hip anterior force by 59–60 % in landing, whereas CT lowered knee extension/flexion moment by 34–35 % and hip extension moment by 36–37 % in propulsion and decreased hip abduction angle by 37–39 % during flight. Although these alterations did not increase jump height, the improved hip and knee mechanics in propulsion, flight, and landing suggest CG may aid movement-transition stability and landing safety.
