Running-specific breast manikin system for evaluation of breast movement and sports bra performance
2025
Female athletes and active women benefit greatly from wearing well-fitting sports bras to provide essential support and control during dynamic movements like running. Understanding how bra components like straps, neckline and underband affect breast motion is crucial for designing sports bras that reduce discomfort and maintain stability. However, evaluating sports bra performance with human participants […]
A novel anthropometric method to accurately evaluate tissue deformation
2025
By coupling a Boussinesq-based elastic model with a motion-corrected, image-recognition anthropometric pipeline, the study predicts and measures soft-tissue deformation beneath five compression leggings, achieving ≤ 2.36 mm deviation from scanned data under both static and dynamic conditions and giving designers an accurate tool to optimize garment fit and support.
Adaptive Sports Bra Design for Adolescents: A Flexible Fit Solution
2025
The development of adaptive and comfortable sports bras is essential for adolescents, who experience rapid changes in body morphology during growth. Traditional bras, often made with molded polyurethane bra pads, frequently fail to accommodate these variations, leading to discomfort and poor fit. This study investigates the design of a flexible-fit bra utilizing advanced knitting technology […]
Exploration of breast motion under different activities and intensities
2025
This study rigorously examines breast motion dynamics in running, jumping rope, and high knee skips to guide sports bra design. Through motion capture and MATLAB analysis, researchers identified unique displacement patterns. Running displayed an erratic horizontal figure-eight trajectory, jumping rope exhibited a vertical elongated path, and high knee skipping resembled a butterfly shape. Without a […]
The impact of shoulder strap length on shoulder pressure during jumping jacks utilizing a musculoskeletal biomechanical Finite element model
2025
These technologies enabled the precise capture of body movements and anatomical details. Based on this data, an anatomically accurate model of the human structure was constructed. The geometric components of the model include the torso, pectoralis major muscle, breast adipose tissue, arm bones, shoulder muscles and joints. The material properties of the shoulder straps were […]
Dynamic simulation of breast behaviour during different activities based on finite element modelling of multiple components of breast
2025
This study presents an advanced dynamic finite element (FE) model of multiple components of the breast to examine the biomechanical impact of different types of physical activities and activity intensity on the breast tissues. Using 4D scanning and motion capture technologies, dynamic data are collected during different activities. The accuracy of the FE model is […]
